Our History
GeneticX was founded in 2023 by James Doherty, PhD, to bridge the gap between complex genetic information and real-world applications.

About the Founder

James Doherty has significantly contributed to the biotech industry since 2007, enhancing genetic diagnostics through his innovative work. Among his achievements, James developed a genotyping kit that played a key role in securing a patent for a proprietary line of Stevia rebaudiana. His research also includes environmental studies, where he identified a novel pararetrovirus – the second discovered in its genus – and genetic research on non-model organisms, notably creating the first fully annotated transcriptome of Stevia rebaudiana. Much of his work, conducted under confidentiality agreements, illustrates a profound commitment to advancing scientific knowledge while respecting commercial sensitivities. Holding an MS from Johns Hopkins and a PhD in Molecular Bioscience and Bioengineering from the University of Hawaii, James's career is marked by a dedicated pursuit of advancements that continue to impact modern biotechnology.
